Although we love dad every day of the year, Father’s Day is the day to make dad feel extra special by showing him how much he means to your entire family. Coming up with gift ideas from your little one to dad can be a challenge, but have no fear, your friends at Lightbridge Academy have put together a list of some fun ways to get your toddlers and preschoolers excited to celebrate dad on his special day! Below are some creative ideas that are easy to do with your little ones and will leave dad feeling nothing but love this Father’s Day:
– Breakfast in Bed! Assist your toddler with dressing up a stack of pancakes or some French toast with smiley-faces decorated with fruit, cereal and whipped cream or syrup. Put it all on a tray, along with dad’s favorite beverage, and wake him up with breakfast in bed.
– Create a Song! Your preschooler will love to show how much they love dad by creating their own song to the beat of their favorite nursery rhyme. For example, instead of singing about B-I-N-G-O, change the song to be about dad with D-A-D-D-Y:
I love him and he loves me
And daddy is his name-o
D-A-D-D-Y
D-A-D-D-Y
D-A-D-D-Y
And daddy is his name-o
– Make a Scrapbook! Incorporate any family photos and/or artwork your child has created and make a scrap book. Have your little one create a cover page with their finest artwork for dad, then bind the book by punching a hole on the side and tying a ribbon through it.
– Record a Video! Have your preschooler recite a poem, sing a song or say how much they love dad. Record it on your camera or phone, send it to dad and you can both watch dad exude with happiness!
– Give Him Coupons! Help your child make dad special coupons that reflect his favorite hobbies, sports or the age of your little one. For example, create coupons such as ‘one free hug’, ‘one free car wash’, ‘get out of one diaper change’ or ‘one hour of uninterrupted game watching’ – get creative! Your child will love decorating these coupons and presenting them to dad.
– Pack a Picnic! Prepare dads favorite meals and snacks, gather up the family (including your four legged family members) and go on a picnic at the park, beach or even in the backyard. Also, don’t forget to check your local town for family festivals and events in your area – fun for the whole family!
It is often hard to find the perfect gift for the perfect dad, or finding a gift when dad already has everything. Remember, at the end of the day it’s not about how much money you spend on gifts or where you take dad for lunch, it’s about your family showing how much you all love and appreciate him.
Happy Father’s Day from your friends at Lightbridge Academy!
