  • Meet the Owner - Shelby Kachel

    Shelby Kachel is the co-owner of Lightbridge Academy of Wake Forest, where she is passionate about helping local families access high-quality preschool and early childhood education. Alongside her husband, Brian, Shelby brought Lightbridge Academy to Wake Forest in 2025 with a vision of creating a school where children thrive, parents feel confident, and families feel connected.

    Before becoming a preschool owner, Shelby built her career as an IT executive, bringing years of experience in business operations, technology, problem-solving, and leadership. Today, she applies that experience to supporting school operations, strengthening family communication, and creating a safe, nurturing environment for children and educators.

    Shelby’s passion for early childhood education is rooted in her own experience as a parent. After returning to the Wake Forest area in 2021 with their young daughter, Londyn, she recognized the importance of finding a preschool families can trust. She believes exceptional early education goes beyond kindergarten readiness—it’s about building confidence, encouraging curiosity, and helping every child feel loved and supported.

    As a local business owner, Shelby is committed to building meaningful relationships with families and supporting the educators who make a difference in children’s lives every day. Outside of Lightbridge Academy, she enjoys traveling, cruising, visiting Disney, and exploring North Carolina with her family.

    Shelby is proud to serve Wake Forest and the surrounding communities and looks forward to helping more families experience the difference that quality early childhood education can make.

  • Meet the Center Director - Amanda Brown

    Amanda Brown is the Center Director at Lightbridge Academy of Wake Forest, bringing nearly 20 years of experience in early childhood education and a passion for helping children learn, grow, and thrive. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a Level II Administrator certification through Stanly Community College.

    Amanda believes strong relationships are the foundation of exceptional preschool and early childhood education. She is dedicated to supporting teachers, building meaningful partnerships with families, and fostering a safe, nurturing environment where children develop confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.

    As Center Director, Amanda is committed to creating a welcoming, collaborative school community where every child feels valued and every family feels supported. She takes pride in helping deliver a high-quality educational experience that prepares children for kindergarten and builds a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
