favorite tips for working parents.

Being busy means you need balance. Schedule time just for family, then alone time with your spouse or partner, and then for yourself. Plan ahead to keep stress low. Leave an extra 30-60 minutes for those last-minute surprises such as potty breaks, juice spills and outfit changes. More prep time and scheduled personal time lower stress and provide an outlet to relax.

No matter how busy we are, we make sure to stop and listen to our kids when they are talking to us. We make eye contact and show interest in what they have to say. We want them to be able to be social, polite, outgoing and gain the ability to hold a conversation. They are generally excited, and we don't want to take that away from them.

Don't overcomplicate things! The picture-perfect meal, the adorably coordinated outfit, and the Pinterest-worthy activity are all great, but taking the time to just play with your kid means more to them at the end of a busy day!

Don’t compare yourself to other parents. Everyone parents differently, and everyone has a different method of balancing their lives. What works for someone else might not necessarily work for you.

The best tip that I can give to working parents is to slow down. It is so hard these days to really take the time to enjoy each other’s company. Take a few minutes in the morning to snuggle with your little one or at the end of the day to get to know your child. Their minds are evolving and changing every day, and it is so fun to get to know this little person that you created!

My best practical tip for being a busy parent is planning ahead (as best you can), and don’t let any tasks, no matter how big or small, linger. However, my best life tip for being a busy parent is to not get too caught up in the rat race and enjoy your kids’ childhoods.
